    • Child raising and child education in kibbutz:
Pursuing my own interest in both alternative education techniques the communal settlement movements, I read two (now well-known) books:
Children of the Kibbutz, Melford E. Spiro
Children of the Dream, Bruno Bettleheim
A direct consequence of reading the books was my decision to take a leave of absence from college and spend 8 months in Israel, on a kibbutz. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to stay in Israel, where I lived for 17 years, 11 of those years on kibbutz(es).
